Big Time is a multiplayer action RPG where you team up with friends to adventure across time and space. Collect rare and legendary NFT items to decorate your avatar and personal time machine where you can hang out with your friends.
“NFTs are ready for prime time — we’ve seen a lot of traction as of late,” said Ari Meilich, Big Time’s founder and chief executive officer. “I’m excited about this space.”
Big Time is a free-to-play game but users can buy items in form of NFTs too. The game will offer clothing and armor from several different time periods, allowing players to kit out unique heroes and express their own badassery for the whole world to see. But it doesn’t stop there. Each player can own their own personal Time Machine, which can be customized with a wide range of items.
Players can decorate their space with new furniture, hang trophies celebrating adventures through time, or display unique NFT artworks. And there’s no better place to show off all this loot than the game’s central hub — Epoch City, a sprawling metropolis situated at the end of the universe.
How Does The Game Work
Big Time is using a system known as Timelines. This special system allows players to level up the same character in multiple classpaths while they can also change the desired class. There are four classes so far, called Time Warrior, Chronomancer, Quantum Fixer and Shadowblade. The game transports players through time and space to meet famous figures throughout history.
Players can unlock new equipment, rides, pets, player ranks, and titles as the game develops. In terms of the game’s economy, we can find “rare” objects that can be exchanged, rented, or sold to other players.
All of these valuable items can be found by the players. For example, if a player kills a final boss in a dungeon, the winner can collect an NFT. It’s important to know that NFTs will only be cosmetic items that can be exchanged for cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies. Furthermore, the game also features non-tradable items such as equipment that will grant more power in the game but equipment cannot be exchanged for cryptocurrencies or fiat money.
Who’s Behind The Project
The founder and CEO of Big Time is Ari Meilich, who’s also a co-founder of Decentraland. Decentraland is a virtual world powered by the Ethereum blockchain where users can buy plots of virtual land and other property that can then be built upon and monetized. It opened to the public in early 2020 and became extremely popular. Meilich is currently an adviser for Decentraland and says his experience there helped him gauge potential player demand.
“I’ve learned a lot at Decentraland — I got to see how users value NFTs, what’s their place in virtual economies,” he said, adding that Big Time will try to avoid some of the frustrations present within other platforms, including misplaced private keys and struggles with downloading wallets. That’s why the company will provide users with hosted wallets and will take care of asset custody.
